GGQ Board COVID - 19 Update - 15 March


Dear Girl Guide Queensland Members

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update - 15 March 2020
Please be advised that Girl Guides Queensland Board has made the heartfelt and unprecedented decision to suspend all person to person Girl Guide activities until further notice, commencing Monday 16 March 2020.

Guiding activities will continue to operate using our Flexible Guiding Program and will draw upon the expertise of our experienced Leaders.

What this mean for the Guiding community:
  • There will be no meetings, sleepovers, indoor/outdoor camps, travel, expeditions, trainings, Trefoil Guild activities, or any other person to person Girl Guide activities during this period
  • We will continue to monitor advice from Queensland Health and will keep our Members informed of updates via the Member Portal Website, after logging in to the GGQ website go to https://www.guidesqld.org/COVID19
  • Meetings in the State Office are to be by appointment only
  • Guide Supplies ‘Shop’ sales will be limited to online only
The State Office will operate under Queensland Health guidelines regarding shared work - space, with staff working ‘in situ’ on a rotational basis and some staff continuing to work remotely.

This course of action is to ensure the health and well - being of girls, adult Members, Volunteers, staff and the greater community as we all come to terms with an increasing rate of contagion across Queensland communities.

We understand there will be many questions, especially about upcoming events and fundraising activities, and we ask that you be patient as the State Commissioner and CEO work together to provide direction.

We know Guiding is a much - loved activity and we look forward to a return to normal operations.

Today, the Federal Government announced the following: All community buildings are restricted from opening as of 12 midnight 26 March 2020 All agreements will be suspended until further notice Scheduled rent payments are therefore suspended until further notice.
