Flexible Guiding Information for Units

Dear Unit Leaders and Unit Helpers,

It has been quite a week, hasn’t it? We trust you are travelling OK and coping with the changes.

Please see our Management of Flexible Guiding and communication that was sent to both your Region and District Managers and Support Groups/District Management Teams. We have sent the same information to everyone to ensure you have a complete picture of  everyone’s roles and responsibilities.
Thank  you for the positive way in which you have responded to the change in our delivery of Guiding. We have received some lovely letters from parents thanking us for taking the brave move to put the safety and wellbeing of our girls and Leaders and their families first.

Kat (State Commissioner Elect) and I have joined some Region Meetings and the ideas have been flowing. Please know that small teams led by the Lones Leadership are working very hard to produce ‘easy to use’ resources for you. Short forums will also be run to support you through these trying times. A set of FAQs will be published (hopefully tomorrow) to also support this process. Your Region and District Managers will be doing all they can to support you. All resources will be uploaded as soon as possible.

Some weeks will not be easy… and not every one of you will feel comfortable delivering Guiding this way. But we do know that by delivering Guiding this way – we are doing our best to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Guiding Community and the wider community.

This is new territory for us all. Our country has never experienced this before. Every organisation is struggling to find a way forward. What we know is we do have the resources and the specialist knowledge to continue to deliver Guiding to our Guiding community. We will do our best to support you and will stay in close contact with your Region Managers.

Yours in Guiding

Velia and Kat and the State Commissioner Team
