COVID 19 Update - 12 March 2020

Dear Members

Girl Guides Queensland has taken the precautionary measure of closing its State Office, after a staff member was potentially exposed to COVID-19.

This staff member has sought testing and self-isolated. No other staff member has reported symptoms; however all are self-isolating for the immediate future.

Girl Guides Queensland is working to minimise the risk to health and safety of all who interact with our organisation. We are identifying close contacts of those who interacted with our staff member and communicating directly with them regarding their requirement to self-isolate.

Our own staff identified as close contacts will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days and not return to work until this time has elapsed.

A 'close contact' is a person who has spent significant time either face-to-face (15 mins) or in an enclosed space (two hours or more).

The State Office will be thoroughly cleaned while it is closed, and when it reopens will continue to follow the robust infection control procedures in place.

Girl Guides Queensland acknowledges that closure of our State Office may be disruptive. While closed we will stay in regular contact with everyone we normally interact with. Emails and telephones will be monitored.

We will provide an update on Friday 13 March 2020.
